It seems the little task I got handed yesterday is a live one. There's a problem with a product that must get out the door by the end of the month, and I got tagged as the available "expert." I guess there was a reason they stepped on the gas a bit with the hiring process!

It's exciting, of course... I like being in the thick of things, and I like challenges. As for stress... I think my real stress these days comes from trying to keep the rest of my life on the rails. I'm not used to having such a large chunk of every weekday completely occupied by work. The reduction in stress from having a steady income is the flip side, of course: I got a bit tired of diving further and further into debt.

Little stuff, really. The stuff I have to remind myself not to sweat. Shopping for new jeans, getting a haircut, stuff like that. I'm not used to scheduling these things around a 9-5 type schedule. My sleep schedule is also adjusting to this slowly.

Well, it *has* only been a few days really. Give it a month or two and you should settle into it.

I guess... it feels like it's been longer, in some ways. Wherever I've been before, the first week has been very passive, a period of soaking up information and flavor.

Here... well, I feel like Winston "the Wolf" from Pulp Fiction. There's a problem? Right. Let's get to work.

Although I think your job is more challenging than mine, I can emphasise on the "adjusting to the 9 to 5 schedule" thing. Before if I didn't do something... I would do it tomorow. Or the day after, no rush right? Now with so much less free time, I can't do that anymore.

If only there was a way to have the free time of unemployment and the income of work...

Win a lottery... a big payoff lottery. Or marry a rich heiress like Neesha. :) Good luck.

The former could be difficult, given that I don't buy tickets; the latter could also have some problems associated with it, if I get caught.

Going to the casino tomorrow... maybe that'll work.
