The karting krowd may be a bit early or late, depending on how things go at the track.

Okay, even if the crowd is small, it's still good enough for me; plus, the weather looks good!

This Friday, at Amigo Karting; arrive at 7; we will sign up at 7:15 p.m. (in deference to the early-type people!). RSVP strongly encouraged. A driving license is not required, but you have to be at least 16 years old. We'll do the 30-minute race, which will satisfy most appetites; bring $45 cash for this (taxes included).

You can snack before driving, but I recommend waiting until after the race for supper; we can go out as a gaggle for food. Pizzedelic, perhaps, but I'm open to other ideas.

In addition to the stuff in my earlier post, wear oldish clothes: they will smell somewhat of gasoline and rubber afterwards. Somewhat warm, but not excessively so, is advised: there is wind, and we're right down by the river, but you will be sweating.

It's karting time again!

I'll propose Friday April 30th, in the evening... if you're interested, available, and able to do this, please reply soon so that I can set a reservation! If you're interested but not available, let me know and if the balance tips towards another date, we can adjust.

I'd love to get 10 or more people together, since that would let us reserve the full track for a 40 or 60 minute race ($50 or $70). Otherwise, we can do a 30-minute race for $45 a head. Amigo Karting has a very nice outdoor track, and 9 HP cars for up to 17 people.

Safety notes: this isn't a leisurely drive down the parkway, folks. It's actually exercise, believe it or not, and the vibration can be bad for some people; if this doesn't work for your body, don't inflict it on yourself. It's also not bumper cars; they will pull you off the track if you go bouncing people around on purpose. All that said, you are very unlikely (from what I've seen) to injure yourself severely in an accident on the track: I've never seen anyone ejected from a vehicle, or seen a vehicle flip or roll, and you are given a motorcycle helmet to wear (compulsory!). Just watch your right elbow: the exhaust manifold is right behind it, and it's hot!

Wear: comfortable clothes without loose flappy bits. I take off my watch and rings, and wear driving gloves; you may want to do the same.

The weather looks solid for tomorrow's karting expedition, so unless something changes drastically (in which case I'll try to contact everyone who confirms), we're good to go!

Arrive there at 5:30, or if you aren't confident on "there," my place at 4:45 to caravan. Bring money, warm clothes (karts aren't enclosed!), driving gloves, and money.

Spectators, hangers-on and sexy people welcome, of course!

RSVP for the racing and for supper afterwards... it makes our lives easier in so many ways.

Original details in this post.

It's raining, and showing no signs whatsoever of ceasing from doing so by this evening. Therefore, the rain date is invoked, and we'll try again next Saturday!

Just a note that we are still planning on going karting this Saturday if the weather is good, and if you're interested, there's still room. Because we expect there to be fewer than 10 of us, we will show up on the day and take what we can get; I recommend budgeting $80 for the racing, just in case we can persuade them to give us the full track. Original details are here!

In the (unfortunately likely-looking) event of rain, we'll go next Saturday, October 4th, instead. I'll post a final verdict by noon on Saturday as to whether we're going this week or not.

Currently, the expected racers are [livejournal.com profile] ilanikhan, [livejournal.com profile] niall_, [livejournal.com profile] green_ogre, [livejournal.com profile] blinkus2000, M.V., and myself, with [livejournal.com profile] xiphia thinking of coming to give moral (or other) support!
