US soldiers killed themselves at a rate of more than one a day in June. "There are instances where a leader's lack of soldier accountability resulted in suicide victims not being found until they had been dead for three or four weeks[.]"

Those Manic Pixie Dream Girls in the movies. Just like Doritos (tasty, but without real nutritional value)?

Yeah, it's pretty grim.

Military life is... complicated. Most military people depend on those around them to a very great extent, and when that support net is weakened, they fall apart readily. This is why commandos are a somewhat special breed in any military force, and aren't fully trusted by the powers that be, however useful they may be in certain contexts.

both articles were pretty interesting. The suicide victims not being found for weeks is mind boggling... in the military? wtf?!?
